Driver crashes into 88-year-old woman’s house, family struggles to rebuild-NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

A driver crashed into Katherine Martinez’s mother’s home while she and her family were inside. The 88-year-old Esther Rodrigues was physically unharmed, but the place she has called home for decades has been destroyed.

“He destroyed the column that was here. He destroyed the floors of my mother’s house, ”Martinez said. “It was three o’clock in the morning.”

Dallas Police are still looking for the driver who crashed into the West Oak Cliff home. Neighbors tried to help catch the driver, but he escaped.

“My neighbors tried to hold him back, but he fought back, and then he took the run,” Martinez said.

While the police search for the person responsible, the Martinez family tries to put the house back together.

“This is the second time this has happened here at my mother’s home. She is 88 years old and she should not have to go through it right now, ”Martinez said.

She said this house has also been a haven for the extended family and she simply wants everyone to live without fear that this will happen again. The accident happened at the 600 block of N. Rosemont Avenue. Anyone with information can call Dallas Police at 1-877-373-TIPS.
