Position Information

Under the direction of the
Director of the Exploration Center for Innovative Teaching and Engagement (XCITE), the Instructional Designer 4 serves as a practice expert
in faculty development models and strategies; perform as a Academic and instructional specialist in the adaptation of emerging pedagogical
strategies and educational technologies; and act as a liaison with the larger campus community, particularly in translating classroom
teaching practices into student-centered, active, authentic, and connected learning experiences. In this capacity, the faculty developer
will work individually and participate in cross-functional teams, to help facilitate high impact projects and programs that align with the
UCR 2022 Strategic Plan and of Academic Excellence, Access, Diversity, and Engagement.

The budgeted hourly range for this position is
up to $43.10.

As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)
Vaccination Program Policy. All Covered Individuals under the policy must provide proof of Full Vaccination or, if applicable, submit a
request for Exception (based on Medical Exemption, Disability, and/or Religious Objection) or Deferral (based on pregnancy) no later than
the applicable deadline. For new University of California employees, the applicable deadline is eight weeks after their first date of
employment. 

Education

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area
    and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in related area.
    Preferred

Experience

  • 6 – 10 years of related experience.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Advanced knowledge of applying adult learning theories and
    education methodologies in creative ways.
  2. Advanced ability to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating
    organizational and problem-solving skills.
  3. Advanced understanding of business strategies and market priorities related to online
    learning and achievement of organizational goals.
  4. Advanced knowledge of organization policies and procedures, including policies
    that impact online course development.
  5. Advanced analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, collaboration
    and negotiation skills.
  6. Advanced knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and
    media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning.
  7. Advanced
    knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and
    assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etc.
  8. Advanced knowledge of
    e-learning strategies including but not limited to courses (e.g., processes and technologies, etc.).
  9. Thorough knowledge to conduct
    appropriate job and task analyses in the context of instructional design of technical or specialized training.
  10. Advanced knowledge
    and skills with relevant business software systems and content creation tools.
  11. Expert level skills in application of planning,
    resourcing and monitoring of effective design life cycles of training and other learning and performance solutions to support the
    organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Advanced knowledge of organizational policies and procedures that
    impact XCITE.
