First image of tragic Scottish man dying after being crushed by a falling tree

The first image of a man killed by a falling tree Aberdeenshire has been revealed.

The tragic David Lapage died after his vehicle was ramte on the B977 Dyce to Hatton Fintry Road around noon. 17.45 Friday 26 November.

The tragedy happened as extreme weather conditions hit the country during storm Arwen.



The responding police car was crushed by another falling tree nearby

The 35-year-old drove his Nissan Navara pick-up before the tragic incident.

A police car, which had responded to the tragic incident, was also then completely destroyed after another large tree blew on top of it.

There were no officers in the car at the time.

In a statement released by Scotland Police, his family said: “The family would like to thank all the services involved and greatly appreciate all the messages of support.

“They will ask that their privacy be respected at this time.”

Sergeant Craig McNeill of the Divisional Road Policing Unit in Inverurie said: “Our thoughts are very much with David’s family and friends at this time.

“Our inquiries are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances, and anyone with information who has not yet spoken to an officer can call 101 with reference to reference 2999 of November 26.”
