Flight Attendant Season 2 casts Sharon Stone as Kaley Cuoco’s mother

Cassie Bowden is on her way to an unpleasant family reunion in The Flight Attendant season 2, as Sharon Stone joins the show as her mother Lisa.

HBO Max Stewardesses throws Sharon Stone in a big season 2 role: Kaley Cuoco’s mother. Originally intended to be a limited series based on the author Chris Bohjalian’s independent novel, Stewardesses took off in late 2020 and quickly became the then streamer HBO Max’s first major original hit. As a result, it went green for a season 2 amid critics’ praise and surprising award nominations. Stewardesses has Cuoco in the lead role as Cassie, the titular stewardess who after a drunken night wakes up next to the dead body of her hookup. Season 1 then tracks how Cassie solves the murder and clears her own name, all the while battling her alcoholism.

Going into season 2, Stewardesses will retain some of Season 1’s elements while offering a whole new story. Cassie is sober and lives in LA, while she looks like a CIA asset. While on a mission abroad, she witnesses a murder, which sends her on yet another wild investigation. More contributors from Stewardesses season 1 returns, including Zosia Mamet, Rosie Perez and TR Knight. New regulars in season 2 include Mo McRae, Callie Hernandez and JJ Soria.

Now Stewardesses has added a big star to season 2. Per Deadline, Sharon Stone has been cast in the recurring role as Lisa Bowden, Cassie’s alienated mother who “prefer to stay alienated“According to the character description, Lisa has spent a lifetime dealing with her daughter’s alcohol problems, and she no longer has the patience for it. Cassie’s mother got a glimpse of a season 1 flashback, but Stewardesses will now expand its character.

Lisa’s frustrations over Cassie’s alcoholism should create an interesting conflict in Stewardesses season 2. Cassie is sober now, giving the impression that she has the power to now repair her relationship, just as she did with her brother in season 1. However, Cuoco hinted that Cassie will not have the easiest time now that she is sober, and even said she would do it instead “all the wrong decisions about what not to do when you get sober. “It could further hinder her relationship with her mother.

Aside from story opportunities, the Stones casting is perfect. Stone has built a career playing convincing femme fatales, and while Stewardesses is perhaps not a traditional noir, it is still fitting that it has recruited Stone for a season 2 role. It will be interesting to see how her character collides with Cuocos. There are still many questions to be answered, including what event brings them back together. The audience will come to see this dysfunctional relationship unfold when Stewardesses will return later this year.
