Lifetime produces one Flowers in the attic the prequel series with the title Flowers in the attic: The origin, which will be a miniseries in four parts. It is based on the prequel novel, The Garden of Shadows by Andrew Neiderman, and it ”tells the story of the stubborn and determined Olivia Winfield (Rooper) who works with her beloved father (Hamlin) when she is unexpectedly overthrown by one of the country’s most deserving bachelors, Malcom Foxworth (Irons ). After a whirlwind romance, Olivia finds herself as a mistress in the impressive Foxworth Hall, where she soon discovers that the adventurous life she expected has quickly become a nightmare. Beneath Malcolm’s debonair exterior lies a dark heart, and a twisted evil lurks inside Foxworth Hall that will threaten the happiness of Olivia and her children. Her attempts to protect them all ultimately push Olivia to become the most fearsome version of herself, leading to her inevitable – and infamous – decision to lock her grandchildren in the attic. ”
Dodd takes on the role of Olivia’s daughter, Corinne; while Williams portrays Foxworth’s longtime employee and Olivia’s observant housekeeper, Nella. Mulgrew plays Mrs. Steiner, Malcom’s loyal house manager and chief of staff at Foxworth Hall. Grammer portrays Malcom’s famous father Garland Foxworth, who is married to his new wife Alicia, played by Boden. Wesley plays John Amos, Olivia’s cousin, whose revelations change her life forever, and Callum Kerr plays Christopher, a close relative of the Foxworth family, whose lives will be forever intertwined with Corrines’ from the moment they set their eyes on each other.
