Freddie Gibbs has been at war with the industry before he even got into the game. In his early days – beforePinata – the rapper was virtually blackballed after dissing on anyone he could, hence the alleged fight with Jim Jones at Prime 112 in Miami in December. Still, he remains as candid as ever, perhaps even more so with the newfound fame that came with a Grammy nomination.

It seems that some subliminal messages he sent around the time Gunna’s Crime Stoppers video came back to haunt him. Despite publicly confessing his appreciation of Gunna and posting a picture with the YSL rapper, Freddie Gibbs got lost in a new song preview. Gunna took to Twitter, where he wrote, “When my album drops, Freddie Gibbs will be the biggest moment of his career.”

In response to Gunna, Gibbs quoted the tweet and shared a kiss emoji before expressing his gratitude for his disgrace. “I’m the hot topic right now, these n *** azs need me to push the project. I understand that,” Gibbs wrote. “You can say you’ve sold more records, got more money, but I’ve never been on a criminal stop. Fine.”

A preview then appeared in which Gunna takes light photos of the Grammy-nominated MC. “Stay away from ‘Gram / Can’t fuck with Freddie Gibbs,'” Gunna raps. Of course, this came back to Akademiks, who claimed that the 5-second excerpt is “hotter than anything FEDERICK Gibbs has ever released in his life.”

Gibbs, however, was less than impressed with the dull delivery behind Gunna’s ominous message. “Hell, was that it? I thought my family would give me some bars. Let’s go,” Gibbs tweeted. “I love gunna music, I think he’s one of the best at making music, so it’s a blessing to be recognized by one of the best. Now, do not take this personally back.”

“Two years ago, these n *** az would not have mentioned my name. It told you who the new king is,” he added.

And while that may be true, Akademik’s Freddie’s comments on Gunna’s apparent Crime Stoppers performance were counterproductive. “Dawg talking about crime stoppers .. n *** a your whole childhood was a criminal stopper .. your father a COP n *** a .. your brother a DISTRICT LAWYER. Brother. N *** a your childhood literally a season of First 48 …, “tweeted Akademiks.

Gunna has not yet responded to Freddie’s latest tweets, but maybe there’s more to diss. We’ll find out when on Friday DS4 drops.
