With cosplay in an all-time high and the eerie season upon us, Harley Quinn and Spider-Man are the most popular Halloween costumes of 2021.
With the eerie season upon us, it seems Harley Quinn and Spider Man are the most popular Halloween costumes of 2021. Harleen Quinzel has been a fan favorite ever since her debut in Batman: The animated series episode, “Joker’s Favor”, in 1992. Her popularity intensified after her DC Extended Universe portrayal in Suicide Squad (2016), Birds of prey (2020), and most recently James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, which has only lit the flames of worship. Peter Parker / Spider-Man has been one of Marvel’s most popular characters since the 1960s and a cornerstone of superhero cinema ever since Sam Raimis Spider Man trilogy.
Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn in The suicide group is perhaps the most faithful to the source material, wearing a red leather ensemble and a party dress reminiscent of clothes the character wore in Arkham video games and the animated series. On the Marvel Cinematic Universe side of things, Spider-Man: No way home is becoming the most anticipated film since Avengers: Endgame. In addition to the return of Spider-Man 2s Doc Ock (Alfred Molina) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Electro (Jamie Foxx), Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men are rumored to be joining Tom Holland in a multiversal extravaganza that pays homage to previous Sony films.

It’s no surprise that superhero costumes are the best choice in 2021. Not only has dressing up as one’s favorite superhero always been a popular choice for Halloween lovers, but Marvel and DC projects continue to permeate popular culture on big and small screens. The female-led superhero film such as Wonder Woman 1984 and Black widow, which was Scarlett Johansson’s last outing as the character, has also contributed to the figures above. All this said, some might find it surprising Harry Potter, Star wars‘Princess Leia and “Cat” costumes continue to play so strongly.
It’s always a lot of fun to see which movies and popular characters have resonated with the masses throughout the year to the point where they do their best to emulate and emulate. For Harley Quinn, costumes can be as simple as a red dress, eye and face makeup, and they are ready to dance around with a spear all night. As seen in comics, animations, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verseand other Sony movies, there is a large selection of suits to choose from. Suffice it to say when Spider-Man: No way home hits theaters in December, there should be even more.
