Heidi Fleiss leaves Nevada after her parrot is shot

For the past 15 years, Fleiss and her exotic birds have lived in Pahrump, Nev., Located 60 miles west of Las Vegas. Her property houses a 40-acre bird sanctuary. According to Fleiss, she noticed that one of her birds hobbled around Christmas time, but could not immediately get an appointment with a veterinarian because of the holiday weekend. When she finally got Chuey to a doctor, Fleiss was told that the bird had been shot and would have to undergo a “horrible operation” to repair its broken leg.
