Investigation of murder is underway after homeless man found with fatal injuries in Van Nuy’s parking lot

Authorities believe a homeless man who was found dead in a Van Nuys parking lot on Monday was the victim of a homicide.

The victim was found around 8:40 a.m. Monday in the structure of a building along 5700 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard, according to a press release from the Los Angeles Police Department.

Reacting officers suspected dishonesty may have been involved, and homicide detectives responded on the spot. It is unclear how long the victim’s body had been at the scene.

LA County forensic investigators “discovered trauma to the victim’s body in accordance with injuries caused by a vehicle,” the LAPD said in the statement.

The man, who police believe lived on the street in the Van Nuys area, was 42 years old, but his name has not been released. No further details about the victim or any suspects have been released.

Anyone with more information about the incident can call the Valley Bureau’s homicide detectives at 818-374-9550.
