James Van Der Beek and his wife really wanted to move their five children out of Los Angeles, so they moved to Austin, Texas.

“We wanted to get the kids out of Los Angeles,” James told Austin Life magazine in a new interview. “We wanted to give them space, and we wanted them to live in nature.”

Kimberly told the outlet she felt Texas had “the ability to heal” after finding an oak tree to meditate under. The decision to move the family came after Kimberly had a few more aborter.
