When Hulus series Pam and Tommy if Pam Anderson and Tommy Lee were announced, people were fixated on whether Lily James and Sebastian Stan could accurately embody one of rock’s most iconic former couples. But no one bothered to ask who should play Tommy Lee’s penis.

There are so many wild details about Lee’s life—including how he basically had a Starbucks in his home—That it’s easy to forget that the Mötley Crue drummer had his member tell about his memories from 2005, Tommyland. That Pam and Tommy showrunners decided to add it to the series and they found the perfect voice for Lee’s cock: Jason Mantzoukas.

If you were to think about who you would like to vote for your cock, Mantzoukas’ name might not be the first to show up, but in this case, that makes sense. Hiring an actor known for playing chaotic, sex-obsessed characters like Rafi from The league feels appropriate, right?

Another good choice would have been Seth Rogen (who also played briefly) Rafi’s sidekick Dirty Randy on the FXX show), but he already plays another character in Pam and Tommy.

In an interview by Variety, explains co-showrunner Robert Siegel, however, that it required some conviction for Hulu to allow a talking schlong. “I think it may be the first [for television]. There was a gentle pushback because you have to push back a little when a talking penis is presented to you. But Hulu was extremely supportive, ”he says.

And it seems like it was just as ridiculous to film as it sounds. Craig Gillespie, who directed the series, tells Variety that filming these scenes was “just awkward”. He explains, “You have four puppet masters working on an animatronic penis. And then, how much is too much, and are you starting to lose his emotional torment over what’s going on? Hopefully it works.”

Stan seems to have embraced the silly of it all and said, “At the end of it, I treated it like it was an intimate girlfriend conversation that one can have when they’re falling in love.”

If you’re curious about whether they pull it all out talking penis thing or not (or if you just want to see how the show develops), you can see Pam and Tommy on Hulu on February 2nd.
