Kenny G, a Grammy-winning musician and top-selling instrumentalist of all time, tells the story behind his song “Appointment“on his latest album”New standards. ”
“Brazilian nights, ”And the album highlights his distinctive crossover style of classical orchestral luxury and traditional pop influences from artists such as Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.
Kenny said “Appointment”Is the first track he recorded for the record, and it helped set the tone for the entire album. The song adds to the traditional optimistic jazz style of the 50s and 60s Kenny’s signature sound.
The overall tone of the song is reflected in its title when the melody captures relaxed, yet lively and cheerful energy.
“The orchestra is coming in, they’re moving in with me, we’m taking this tour together,” Kenny G shares the song, “It almost sounds like you’re going for a walk to meet someone, and that’s why I called it ‘Rendezvous.'”
