  • Tucker Carlson said a film crew followed Kyle Rittenhouse’s defense team to a documentary.

  • Rittenhouse’s attorney, Mark Richards, said CNN he did not approve.

  • Rittenhouse was acquitted of all five charges against him in his murder case on Friday.

Kyle Rittenhouse’s lawyer says he did not approve of Tucker Carlson’s Fox News film crew, who accompanied the defense team to a special series.

“I did not approve. I threw them out of the room several times,” Mark Richards said CNNs Chris Cuomo.

He added: “I do not think a film crew is suitable for such a thing, but the people who raised the money to pay for the experts and to pay for the lawyers tried to raise money, and that was part of it, so “I think I do not want to say an evil, but a clear distraction was part of it. I did not approve, but I am not always the boss.”

Rittenhouse was found not guilty on all five charges against him on Friday. After the acquittal, Carlson aired one segment with parts of an exclusive interview with Rittenhouse and said his team had been working on a documentary throughout the trial.

Richards told Cuomo that Rittenhouse’s family and their adviser were the ones who called who had access to the process.

Cuomo asked Richards if he was concerned that his “client was becoming an agent for animus.”

“Fox News is one thing. I used to work there. Tucker Carlson is another beast. You know what he means in the political world. Were you worried that Rittenhouse would become a kind of villain on the fringes of our politics? spectrum? ” asked Cuomo.

“I had a talk with Kyle. All I can say is what I say and Kyle is going to have some difficult choices in his life about the direction he’s going and what he stands for. Kyle must eventually take, “Richards said.

He added that Rittenhouse should learn to “take responsibility and say no to people.”

Cuomo followed up and asked, “But did you have concerns about it at the time because of who it was and what it would mean when the word came out?”

“Well, I was more concerned about some of the other things that happened much earlier in this case. Lin Woods, John Pierces, who basically tried that I think, to hear this kid for money, for their own sake, said Richards. “They kept him in Illinois to fight an extradition that was unwelcome because they raised tons of money on him.”

Richards then called Woods an “idiot” because he let Rittenhouse talk to The Washington Post while he was accused of murder.

Woods and Pierce left Rittenhouse’s team before his murder case. The Chicago Tribune reported that the two attorneys, who have been vocal about their support for former President Donald Trump, used the far-right embrace of Rittenhouse to raise the money needed to provide his bail.

“I am so proud of Kyle and grateful that justice was served. The ability to defend ourselves is one of the most fundamental rights, and today that right has been affirmed and upheld,” Pierce said in a statement to Insiders Taiyler Simone Mitchell and added that he is also proud of the work he did with Rittenhouse.
