Laika puts on her next film Wildwood

The famous animation studio LAIKA has announced “Wildwood” as its sixth stop-motion and CG hybrid animated feature film.

An adaptation of the novel by The Decemberists singer Colin Meloy, the Portland-set story that follows Prue McKeel, who enters an enchanted wonderland as her little brother Mac is taken by a murder of crows into the depths of the forest.

The film boasts two of the studio’s best talents with “ParaNorman” author Chris Butler, who wrote the script, while “Kubo and the Two Strings” helmer Travis Knight will direct.

The famous film photographer Caleb Deschanel acts as photography director on the project that is already in production. Arianne Sutner produces.

LAIKA also produced “Coraline”, “The Boxtrolls” and “Missing Link”. All five of their features to date have been nominated for Oscars for Best Animated Feature.
