Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Manager Data Analytics in the Office of Clinical Affairs for Senior Vice Chancellor for Clinical Affairs.

Oversees all IT resources related to software, reporting, database architecture, and the technology support team for the RBHS Office of Clinical and Health Affairs. Responsible for healthcare data collection, consultation, analytics, visualization, reporting, and dissemination for the Office and all practice divisions in Rutgers Health. Supports the implementation of a powerful, actionable, and innovative data analytics strategy across RBHS through the development of dashboards/data visualization, data interfaces, file transfers, report management and analysis, and automation of data.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  •  Leads efforts with health system partners to develop priority Key Performance Indicators to measure Rutgers Health practice and provider performance using analytic and reporting best-practices.
  • Directs and provides leadership for the day-to-day maintenance and operations of the Clinical Affairs Summary Letter (CASL), dashboard integration, and analytic reporting.
  • Is in charge of various strategic data workgroups at RBHS and provides subject matter expertise for the implementation and optimization of organizational data analysis, collection, and storage processes.
  • Leads the office’s increasingly complex IT and reporting environment.
  • Manages IT strategic planning and budgeting of all related resources.
  • Analyzes and provides strategic consulting for the recommendation of new system applications and reporting programs for Office senior leadership.
  • Responds to internal and external requests for data. Collaborates with various departments, practice groups and organizations in order to perform data mining and querying functions on large healthcare-related data sets (operational, financial, quality, patient satisfaction, claims, and other payor, provider, and patient-provided information points).
  • Undertakes essential data integrity, analytic and report generation tasks and conducts data consistency and quality checks.
  • Assists with the coordination of data to state, federal, media, independent agencies, and other external stakeholders.
  • Coordinates with data and informatics point people at clinical partners, including affiliated hospitals. Detects and analyzes data trends, correlations and relationships including use of statistical techniques. Designs and develops application programs and files for data management and warehousing.
  • Works with different analytic stakeholders across the organization and maintains cross-functional relationships to develop and enforce standards for the process of data collection and analysis across RBHS through a Data Analytic Roadmap.
  • Functions as a seasoned professional with strong skills in presenting to senior leadership, as well as planning, organizing, and completing data request and reporting projects. Works under minimal supervision and uses independent judgment to provide creative solutions to complex problems.

Annual Minimum Salary: 108,508.00

Annual Mid Range Salary: 137,264.00

Annual Maximum Salary: 166,017.00

Standard Hours: 37.50

Terms of Appointment: Staff – 12 month

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, applied social sciences or a similar field plus a minimum of five to seven years of professional experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of healthcare-related data for: reporting to external stakeholders, data analysis, and report generation; and meeting accountability and assessment requirements of a healthcare organization. 
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have a high level of computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite and data querying tools. 
  • Extensive knowledge of data management and manipulation in Python/R, Excel/Excel VBA, and SQL
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Dimensional Insights/DivePort, Tableau or any other reporting related programs for executing the above responsibilities. 
  • Experience with healthcare and clinical data (patient data, quality data, claims), as well as an understanding of electronic medical record system data collection and reporting. 
  • Must have excellent project management, time management, communication, interpersonal, decision making, analytic, and reporting skills. 
  • Must be able to work with a wide range of individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives on data usage including faculty, staff, and senior administrators; as well as individuals at other healthcare institutions, media outlets, and government offices.
