It’s not just about Peterson’s iconic character, but rather about her life. The book, published on September 22, is the sixth item in her credited bibliography. However, it is the first work Peterson has written. The memoir was reportedly started over 15 years ago, but the COVID-19 pandemic allowed her to sit down and write it all down on paper.
She begins with her humble beginnings and somewhat turbulent entry into showbusiness. Then her life changed for the better. “When I finally became Elvira, that was when my life calmed down and I became normal,” Peterson says.
Peterson describes life in a tree, interactions between celebrities, relationships and more in the memoirs, including a surprising bit of news that many did not know about Peterson – her 19-year relationship with her partner, Teresa “T” Wierson. It was the first time she has openly told about her relationship with a woman.

“It’s been great, especially finding someone who didn’t care who I was,” Peterson says.
Peterson began appearing as Elvira for KHJ-TV (the predecessor of KCAL9 News) in 1981 as the host of “Elvira’s Movie Macabre,” a program that featured B-movies of the horror or science fiction genre.
From that point on, Elvira would be a worldwide sensation appearing in feature films and other movies, in a variety of TV shows and special appearances, and thousands of different merchandise items.
“I think the combination of spooky, sexy and funny is what makes the character unique,” Peterson says.
