An influencer and model living a life of luxury is also the leader of a gang that police claim killed her husband at their son’s birthday party.

Ricardo Marodin was allegedly shot and killed during the birthday party on November 7 by criminals who police believed were working under him.

But since initiating an investigation into his father’s death, detectives have turned their suspicions against his influencer wife Camila Marodin.

Marodin, a Brazilian model and fashion influencer, was arrested in the coastal town of Matinhos in Parana on Friday.

The accused had previously told authorities that her husband was most likely killed in a tragic case of erroneous identity.

But now she is believed to have sanctioned his murder and three days later, the deaths of two former police officers.

She was allegedly caught on her way home from her mother’s house, where she allegedly hid a Glock pistol, which was later found by police.

Police spokesman Colonel Barroso said the arrest was already planned but had to be brought forward after the deaths of Ricardo and former police officers Thiago Cesar Carvalhos and Guilherme Antonio da Costa.

Both officers were killed in the Cajuru neighborhood of Parana’s capital, Curitiba, three days after Ricardo.

Barroso said: “The military police launched Operation Ostentacao (Ostentation), which follows investigation and follow-up during about a year of work carried out by the Military Police Intelligence Department.

“During this investigation, we found financial payments on Camila’s account of over BRL 1.3 million (GBP 177,481).

According to the news site Em Tempo, a court froze the money in Camila’s account in addition to 13 properties, some of them advanced, worth BRL 3 million (409,800 GBP), believed to be owned by the criminal gang.

Officers also seized five luxury cars, two Audis, a Honda, a Chevrolet Camaro and a Porsche, as well as a motorcycle and confiscated 39 weapons and cash worth BRL 120,000 (£ 16,394).

Ricardo Marodin was shot down at the end of his son’s fourth birthday party on November 7 in the town of Pinhais, when four armed suspects allegedly arrived in a silver Volkswagen Voyage and fired several shots.

The father and husband were said to have died on the spot.

On the morning of November 10, the two former officers were shot and killed by gunmen in a silver Volkswagen Voyage, possibly the same one used in Ricardo’s shooting.

Homicide investigator Tito Barichello said the crimes could be linked as Ricardo and Thiago knew each other.

The investigation continues.
