Moon Knight Boss Thinks the Avengers Will Recruit Oscar Isaac’s MCU Hero

Moon Knight showrunner Jeremy Slater believes Marvel Studios is planning to promote the show’s star to the ranks of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Moon Knight showrunner Jeremy Slater revealed that the Disney + series’ titular masked vigilante could wind up joining the Avengers someday.

Slater discussed Moon Knight’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a recent interview with Total Film magazine. “The honest answer is I do not know [what’s next for Moon Knight]”Slater said.” Because [Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer] Kevin [Feige] is the guy who decides all that stuff. Look, if it was up to me, he would be part of the Avengers. It’s absolutely not up to me, but I think that is the goal! “

There’s certainly precedent for the Avengers recruiting Moon Knight in the comics, with the superhero appearing on three different incarnations of Marvel’s premier supergroup since his debut in 1975. Moon Knight’s first time as an Avenger was a brief stint with the West Coast Avengers in the late 1980s, with his second, somewhat longer membership coming several decades later, as part of the Secret Avengers. The third and to-date final time Moon Knight fought alongside the team was in the pages of Avengers vs. X-Menwith the character dropping off the Avengers roster once that crossover event concluded.

Despite Slater’s comments and Moon Knight’s established Avengers pedigree in the comics, Oscar Isaac – who plays Moon Knight in the upcoming series – has remained coy regarding where the character could be headed next. “It depends on whether people see the freakin ‘show first. If they see it, then maybe we’ll see more Moon Knight,” Isaac said in a recent interview. “But I love playing him … I hope I get to visit him again. I love him so much. I feel he’s someone real, who lives in the world. It’s been a long time since I felt that kind of connection.”

Isaac has made it clear that he would be thrilled to reprise the Moon Knight role if given the chance, though. “I’m so excited, it’s – it’s turned out to be like my baby. I put everything into it. I hope it blows people’s minds as much as I think it will,” Isaac said in February.

The actor also recently spoke about what attracted him to Moon Knight, citing his character’s unique psychology and multiple personalities as a key part of the appeal. Since then, Marvel Studios posted a new poster offering fans a better look at one of these personas, the dapper detective Mr. Knight.
