It’s crazy to think, but the start of the pandemic started with Netflix giving us the early distraction we needed with their original movie Extraction. The action-packed film starred Chris Hemsworth and was written by Joe Russo with Sam Hargrave at the helm. The film quickly became the biggest movie ever released on Netflix, making follow-up calls almost instantaneous. Extract 2 has been in the early production stages since it was announced in April last year with Russo working on the script, but now a new teaser has been released at the Netflix Tudum global tab event and it should get fans ready for the next installment.
In the first film, Chris Hemsworth plays Tyler Rake, a fearless black-market mercenary who embarks on the deadliest extract of his career when he was recruited to rescue the kidnapped son of a jailed international criminal. The film also stars Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Manoj Bajpayee, Randeep Hooda, Pankaj Tripathi, Derek Luke, Marc Donato and David Harbor.
During an earlier chat, Hargrave talked about how the first film received high praise for its action sequences. Everyone knows the sequel needs to deliver even more, and it looks like Hargrave and his team have talked a lot about making the action even more impressive in the sequel:
“We talked a lot about it. True, I always walk around my house or walk around town looking for ways to do something fun or different with action. I think a bit as if there’s a camera behind my eyes all the time like, ‘What would be an interesting way to capture this?’, ‘Oh, that would be cool.’ So I catalog and always try to get different, fun ways to capture action and different action sets that would be amazing. Joe and I talked a lot about it, came up with some ideas, jumped them around, and I’m just excited for the challenge. ”
