New restaurants in Miami to try this week: Pura Vida, Asiatiko and Barbakoa by Finka

Miami’s latest round of restaurant openings includes a new location for Pura Vida in Bay Harbor, Barbakoa by Finka on Doral Yard and an Asian restaurant in Aventura.

Asatiko is a new restaurant from the owners of the South Florida companies Fresko, Rustiko and Kosh. The newest place is a Japanese robata-style steakhouse that focuses on dishes that are slowly grilled over hot coals. The Aventura eatery has an extensive sushi menu consisting of unique and creative rolls, from nigueiri nikkei (white fish, lemon soy, aji, amarillo sauce, crisp quinoa and micro coriander) to citrus campachi (orange sauce, lime, and caviar, roasted table side). The menu also features a variety of Asian-inspired entrees and appetizers. If you like to immerse yourself, a creative cocktail menu takes guests on a journey through Asia, where each selection includes a history and ingredients inspired by a different country. Open Sunday to Thursday from 18:00 to 23:00

You can find chicken fried alligator on the menu at the new Barbakoa by Finka at Doral Yard. The venue’s new full-service restaurant, run by Eileen Andrade, is open. Andrade’s latest efforts deliver the chef’s iconic Latin-Asian fusion menu with a coal-fired twist. The menu features a variety of dishes that can be shared as breast croquettes with chili-pickled cucumbers and or Korean chili wings with cilantro and pickled Fresno peppers, topped with crispy peanuts. Equally creative cocktails are served alongside the food with options such as “Tequilin ‘Me Smalls” made with tequila, Bitterman Hellfire bitter, cucumber and pink peppercorns. Open Sunday to Thursday from 11:30 to 22:00, Friday and Saturday from 11:30 to midnight.

A new Chick-fil-A restaurant has opened in North Miami Beach next to Jefferson Plaza. Guests can take advantage of contactless booking and payment via the free Chick-file-A app or online booking. Instead of the traditional Chick-fil-A “First 100 Grand Opening” party, Chick-fil-A North Miami Beach will use its opening day to give 100 local heroes free Chick-fil-A for a year. Also in honor of the opening, Chick-fil-A will donate $ 25,000 to Feeding America, distributed to partners in the Greater Miami area to help fight hunger. Open from 6:30 to 22:00, Monday to Saturday.

Pura Vida recently celebrated the grand opening of its eighth café all day on the Bay Harbor Islands. Since the opening of their first Pura Vida in Miami Beach in 2012, founders Jennifer and Omer Horev have drawn a following with their health-focused restaurant. Go to the breakfast place, the bakery and the all-in-one coffee shop offering a menu enhanced with desserts, bagels and bread baked in the house. The new café’s menu includes favorites such as mango salmon, vegan lentil bowls and Jens’ herbal salad, which offers new items such as a SoBe salmon wrap, a fire egg bowl and peanut butter oatmeal. Open every day from 8 to 16.
