Extensive damage when crashed

The Kelowna RCMP says they are investigating a crash Sunday evening which left thousands of Kelowna residents without power.

About kl. At 7 p.m., the Kelowna RCMP responded to a single-vehicle accident near 3284 Benvoulin Road.

Police say a Cadillac collided with a power pole, causing extensive damage to the vehicle and the pole.

After the crash, FortisBC reported that 3,200 people had lost power.

Power was restored around noon

Police say the driver had already left with ambulance personnel prior to the RCMP’s arrival.

The road was closed to traffic until the pole could be repaired.
