The University of Michigan is accepting applications for 12-month Post-Graduate Athletic Training Fellowship positions. This athletic training fellowship opportunity will prepare athletic trainers for advanced clinical practice that will enhance the quality of health care to student-athletes, optimize student-athlete outcomes, and improve student-athlete health, welfare, and lifetime wellness through an interdisciplinary model and the use of evidencebased practice concepts. The University of Michigan Athletic Training Fellowship aims to further the development of licensed athletic training practitioners into advanced level clinicians and future leaders in the field of sports medicine through mentored clinical education opportunities along with dedicated sport assignments. Athletic Training Fellows are exposed to multidisciplinary settings of clinical practice, testing, and research, and
administrative and interpersonal growth and development.

  • Manual Therapy Techniques including PNF, Graston Technique, Myofascial Decompression, Taping
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response
  • American Red Cross CPR, 1st Aid, AED, Stop the Bleed, and Opioid Overdose Management Instructor Training
  • Collaborative Interdisciplinary Care Within a Sports Performance Model
  • Research Topics and Case Study Presentations

Required Qualifications*

  • Masters’ Degree in Athletic Training or a related field
  • Current certification by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
  • Current or be eligible for licensure as an athletic trainer within the State of Michigan
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Appropriate training and adherence to common regulatory requirements of healthcare providers (e.g. OSHA, HIPAA, etc.)
  • Appropriate training and knowledge of medical documentation and electronic medical records
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, and lift heavy objects such as coolers and medical kits

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience with manual therapy techniques
  • Experience as a preceptor for athletic training students
  • 1 or more years experience as certified athletic trainer
