Restaurants fill gaps in retail in downtown Los Gatos – The Mercury News

Empty retail space in Los Gatos is taking tangible shape, and new owners are emerging as personal shopping patterns gradually return. A handful of eateries have recently opened their doors in downtown or are about to do so.

Perhaps the biggest game-changer for Los Gatos as a wine, dining and shopping destination will be the opening of Tasting House at 368 Village Lane. This is a multifaceted effort based on a total remodeling of the former Cin-Cin room, whose end result will be an exclusive tasting bar and bistro with a decidedly French accent, with a range of fine domestic and imported wines, caviar, cheese and chocolate.

A well-stocked retail store will turn holiday shopping into a craft shop with hundreds of single-origin cheeses and chocolates, gourmet biscuits, jams, spices, books, cheese utensils and even custom-made accessories and gifts like Los Gatos-themed tea towels.

Tailor-made cheese and charcuterie boxes can be ordered, and food and beverage service will follow in December. To order custom tasting boxes, send an email to Katrina@tastinghouselosgatos.com.

Other new businesses in town include Easy Breezy Frozen Yogurt, which opens in the former home of Razberry Lips at 307 N. Santa Cruz Ave, right next to Oak and Rye.

Nina’s Taqueria moves into 29 E. Main St., the sweet spot formerly occupied by The Pastaria, which moved to its current location on Santa Cruz Avenue in 2019. With its location near Los Gatos High School, taqueria attract students in search of an off-campus lunch. Nina’s Taqueria will be open daily at 10-21 taqueriadenina.com

Newly opened at 35 W. Main St. is ShareTea, a boba-te franchise founded in 1992 in Taiwan. They serve everything bubbling, including classic black, green, oolong, milk and pearl tea, as well as coffee hot, cold and swirled with ice cream. They also offer a variety of blended juices.
