The House of Representatives committee investigating the Capitol uprising on Tuesday issued a new batch of subpoenas to some of Donald Trump’s closest advisers, including Rudy Giuliani, as the committee gets closer to the former president.
The committee continues to expand its scope into Trump’s orbit, and this time it requires information and testimony from Giuliani, Jenna Ellis, Sidney Powell and Boris Epshteyn. All four publicly defended the president and his baseless allegations of electoral fraud in the months following the 2020 election.
“The four people we have convened today put forward unsupported theories of electoral fraud, pushed for efforts to overturn the election result, or were in direct contact with the former president about trying to stop the counting of electoral votes,” the Mississippi said. Representative Bennie Thompson. The Democratic chairman of the panel, said in a statement.
The committee said it was seeking records and landfill evidence from Giuliani in connection with his promotion of election fraud allegations on behalf of Trump. The panel is also seeking information on Giuliani’s reported efforts to persuade state lawmakers to take steps to overturn the election result.
