The 37th Santa Barbara International Film Festival, presented by UGG®, takes place LIVE March 2 – March 12, 2022. Official events, including screenings, filmmaking Q & As, industry panels and celebrities, will be held throughout the city, including in the historic Arlington Theater.
“After more than a year of staring at screens from home, SBIFF is swearing a bit and welcoming everyone back to Santa Barbara for collective experiences and engaging face-to-face interactions about cinema!” says Roger Durling, SBIFF’s CEO.
Last year, SBIFF carried out a comprehensive expansion of two drive-in theaters by the beach, debuting 47 world premieres and 37 US premieres, with honorary awards given to Bill Murray, Carey Mulligan, Sacha Baron Cohen, Amanda Seyfried, Riz Ahmed, Maria Bakalova, Kingsley Ben -Adir, Andra Day, Sidney Flanigan, Vanessa Kirby, Tahar Rahim, Zendaya and Delroy Lindo. With the expectation of the personal experience coming back to film festivals, the organizers expect the A-list guests to once again ascend to Santa Barbara, making it a place to stop at the prize pool and deliver an unprecedented number of films, many of them premiere in the world and the United States. The film lineup and schedule will be announced in February 2022.
Over the last 36 years, SBIFF has become one of the leading film festivals in the world and attracts 100,000+ participants during the week. Funds raised through the festival directly support SBIFF’s free programs year-round, serving over 18,000 people.
Passports for the festival 2022 will be sold in August. Visit sbiff.org for more information or to purchase a passport
