Sarah Harding: Ex-Girls Aloud bandmates remember the singer on what would have been her 40th birthday | Ents & Arts News

Former bandmates for Sarah Harding have paid tribute to the late Girls Aloud star on what would have been the singer’s 40th birthday.

Fight For This Love singer Cheryl posted a video on his Instagram page with several clips of naughty girl group and Harding at live concerts, awards ceremonies and chat shows.

Harding died after an ongoing battle with breast cancer, on September 5, only 39 years old.

She unveiled in August 2020 that she had been diagnosed with the disease, which had spread to other parts of her body.

Cheryl wrote the subtitle for the video: “Memories may be all we have left with, but they are enough to last a lifetime # Sarahs40th.”

The video also included excerpts from interviews with Cheryl and Girls Aloud bandmate Kimberley Walsh about their friend and colleague.

“When she saw this blonde bomb running around auditioning like a mad woman, even in the boot camp, when she went up to sing, she ran up there and chatted, chatted, chatted,” Walsh says.

“(She) always stood out as her own character, just like the crazy one who was unique and in her own world,” Cheryl adds.

Girls Aloud was formed in 2002 in the TV show Popstars: The Rivals and featured Harding, Cheryl – then Cheryl Tweedy – Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts.

Roberts also paid tribute on Instagram, saying, “Happy birthday Sarah. Love, miss and think of you all the time.

“I feel your energy as if you’re still here. Wish we could have run riots around town like we used to for your big 4.0 today!

“Cause a supernova up there electric girl.”

Other stars like actress Michelle Gayle and singer-songwriter Talia Dean also added emotional messages.
