WWE superstar Seth Rollins was attacked by a man in the middle of “Monday Night Raw” at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The person ran after Rollins, tackled and brought him down. The two fought on the ground for a few moments before safety got him going.
Although pro wrestling is known for its stunts, including sudden attacks outside the ring, ESPN reported that a 24-year-old, according to a spokesman for the New York police, had been remanded in custody and that charges were pending.
“WWE takes the safety of its artists very seriously,” WWE said in a statement quoted by the New York Post, among others. “The person who attacked Seth Rollins has been handed over to the NYPD and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
It is not clear if Rollins was injured, but he stood and watched briefly while the security guard took control, then left without assistance.
