He said: ‘When I first heard the news from Lauren (Silverman), at 4.30, I immediately thought of our mother, Julie.

‘She would have been overjoyed by the news and it’s sad to think she’s not here to see her son finally tie the knot. She always wanted him to settle down with a family. I imagine she looks down and says, “and in time, Simon!”

He then went on to reveal that Lauren told him that Simon was courting her on Christmas Eve in Barbados.

He said: ‘Lauren tells me that Simon proposed to her on Christmas Eve in Barbados; and she said, “I’m so happy.” To be honest, I’m not surprised by the news. Since having his son, Eric, with Lauren, Simon has completely changed his life, and for the first time, he seems to be happy and content. ‘

Tony also shared his thoughts on what the wedding could be, including that he thinks it will take place in London, and while Lauren might want a glittering showbiz wedding, while Simon might want to keep it private.

‘It will be interesting to see if Simon will choose a sumptuous showbiz wedding or a quiet family affair. Lauren may well prefer a glittering celebrity. But I’m sure Simon would be happier for a private ceremony.

‘I’m sure the wedding will be held in London. As for the date, I have not been told yet.

He went on to reveal that Psychic Sally has predicted that the big day will be in May.

Simon went through a horrible bicycle accident back in 2020, where Tony wondered that it was this event that was a catalyst for the engagement.

He said: ‘I think the accident was the catalyst for Simon. He began to think about his future and who he should share it with. I’m very fond of Lauren; she is both a caring mother and a loyal companion to Simon.

‘She is constantly reaching out to our entire family; and was incredibly supportive of us all after our mother’s death in 2015. ‘

Despite his previously faithful promises of never going up in the air, an insider claimed that the past two years – when the global pandemic hit and the star broke his back – have caused him to change his mind.

The source told People: ‘They have fun together and they are also each other’s rock. They are both passionate but really bring out the best in each other. As a family, they all have such an incredible bond.

‘A lot of things have happened in the last few years, and just like for everyone else in the world, these things have all been a reminder of what is valuable to them.’

Simon may have once labeled marriage as ‘boring’, but according to a new report, it was during the lockdown that something changed with Lauren. The brunette beauty is said to have encouraged him to commit to their family life and ‘prioritize the present’ instead of spending time with his famous exes.

A friend told The Sun that ‘no one is more shocked by the change in Simon the last few years than Simon’, but was told by Lauren that she needed a ‘commitment to family life’.

They explained: ‘Not surprisingly, she did not appreciate Simon hanging out and vacationing with his harem of exes, especially Sinitta, who forever lurked in the shadows.

“Simon was told it was him or his exes – Sinitta, Terri Seymour and Jackie St Clair – and wisely chose to prioritize his present and future, not his past.”
