HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (CW44 News At 10) – An undercover operation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of six men for online solicitation of a minor. The investigation ran from 18.-20. November 2021. Investigators were targeting suspects using the Internet and social media to prey on teens.
Undercover detectives created fictional profiles that pretended to be 14- and 15-year-old women and men. Each of the six arrested persons announced their desire to have sex with who they thought was a minor, and they also traveled to meet the fictional teenager to perform the acts.

Among those arrested was Casimiro Vidal Rael, 37, from Palmetto, FL, to Riverview, FL, to pick up a 14-year-old girl and travel with her to his residence for sex.
Gabriel Guerrero Gonzalez, 29, traveled from Davenport, FL, to Riverview, FL, with the intent of meeting a 15-year-old girl in her home to commit sexual assault.

Robin Varghese, 38, who was arrested for traveling to have sex with a 15-year-old girl, identified himself as a priest at the time of the arrest.
“There are predators on the Internet and social media every day who want to take advantage of children,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “As we enter the holiday season, when our children have time off from school with more free time on their hands, it’s important for parents to remember the importance of monitoring what their children are doing online. Know who your child is talking to, and what sites they visit. “
