UK Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) is seeking an Associate Director, Social Innovation (AD, SI), to lead a new focus area with emphasis on inclusive innovation programs and advancing non-traditional (e.g., non-science or engineering based) innovations to effectuate social impact and societal benefit.
This team leader will be responsible for overseeing the newly developed Social Innovation Team and related activities of the UK OTC, including one dedicated Social Innovation Manager. The role will develop and manage new innovation and entrepreneurship programs focused on inclusive innovation and creating equitable access to entrepreneurship and innovation training for underrepresented innovators at UK and in Kentucky. The position will coordinate with local community, the state, and industry, as well as relevant departments on campus, to leverage and catalyze innovations from the social sciences, arts, humanities, education, and other fields of UK research having high potential for social impact and public health benefit. The position will leverage UK OTC processes, programs and mechanics to ensure best practices for commercialization of social innovations, including creation of non-profits and related entities and initiatives to effectuate social enterprises with optimized opportunity for community impact. This role will coordinate closely with and support UK OTC in conducting education for faculty, staff and students related to social innovation best practices. The AD, SI will report to the Director, UK OTC.
