Spider-Man characters play family feuds in Hysterical Fan Edit

In the wake of Spider-Man: No Way Home’s latest release, a new version of the “Bully Maguire on Family Feud” meme has appeared on YouTube.

WARNING! This article contains spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In the wake of Spider-Man: No Way HomeThe December release is a new version of “Bully Maguire on Family Feud” appeared on YouTube. Tobey Maguire famously played Peter Parker / Spider-Man in Sam Raimis at times campy Spider Man trilogy. After the decision to abandon the plans regarding Spider-Man 4, restarted the Sony franchise with Marc Webb’s The amazing Spider-Man in 2012 with Andrew Garfield in the lead role. Of course, the franchise would be restarted again after The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014, when Sony and Disney / Marvel Studios’ deal brought Peter Parker / Spider-Man into MCU through Tom Holland.

In the latest MCU movie Spider Man: No way home, Maguire and Garfield reversed their websling roles. The film sees its protagonist seek help from his friendly neighbor wizard, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), and removes Mysterio’s identity revelation at the end of 2019’s Spider-Man: Far from home. The ensuing spell goes wrong and characters from the franchise past are brought into the MCU. They include Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Electro (Jamie Foxx), Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), Lizard (Rhys Ifans) – as well as two heroes familiar with the quote “with great powers comes great obligations.” Fortunately, Maguire’s variant was not the Venom-enhanced, “bully” version from Spider-Man 3.

Dark on YouTube, the creator of many Tobey Maguire / Bully Maguire edits, recently shared the follow-up to the video “Bully Maguire on Family Feud,” which has over six million views. “Bully Maguire on Family Feud 2” sees landlord Ditkovich. Mr. Ditkovich (Sergei Ditkovich), who appeared in Spider-Man 2 and 3, and the eponymous Peter bothers Steve Harvey as a distressed Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) watches. Check it out below:

The above parody video is one of many dedicated to the infamous “emo” Peter Parker sequence from Spider-Man 3. Like the infinite number of Bully Maguire memes online, “Bully Maguire on Family Feud” uses original footage and sound, intersects with something else and creates a whole new experience. Raimi’s Spider Man trilogy are still some of the most beloved and meme-friendly comics, but the involvement of Maguire and Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home has renewed interest in previous iterations of Sony’s Spider-Man.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Sony executive Amy Pascal have said they are actively developing Spider-Man 4. The Netherlands, however, is not under contract for yet another trilogy. But despite opening up about potentially moving on from the role, it’s more likely that Holland’s tenure as Spider-Man is not really over. Either way, the fandom has expressed overwhelming interest in seeing Garfield and Maguire’s Spider-Men appear in other films in addition to Spider-Man: No Way Home. While rumors continue that Garfield’s Spider-Man exists in Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters, theories suggest that Maguire may be joining Raimis. Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness. If Maguire bothers Cumberbatch, he will hopefully not tell him he does “will put some dirt in [his] eye.”
