Spider-Man: No Way Home Shatters Avengers: Endgame’s Digital Sales Record

Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters early last December, yet, somehow, it’s still one of the most talked-about superhero projects. It’s a testament to everything Marvel Studios and Sony were able to pull off with the project — and with a good final product, no less. The film saw multiple generations of Spider-Man storytelling clash into one story, with Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland all teaming up on the screen.

Fans have been eager to get their hands on the film, patiently awaiting its impending release on digital and home media. It took a while, but Sony finally officially gave the movie a release date: it will be available digitally on March 22 and 4K UHD and Blu-ray on April 12.

Marketing for the film kicked into gear once again, with the studios releasing all-new images of the three Spider-Men together, alongside plenty of other behind-the-scenes content. As a result, it looks as though pre-orders for the movie went and smashed through current records, as Spidey does.

Via Media Play News, Spider-Man: No Way Home has become Vudu’s top-selling digital pre-ordered movie of all time— already beating the previous record holder, Avengers: Endgame, with nearly a whole month left before its March 22 release date.

Alongside the announcement, Fandango (the company that owns Vudu) managing editor Erik Davis released a statement saying how “it’s no surprise that it’s Vudu’s hottest pre-order title of all time:”

“‘No Way Home’ is one of the biggest superhero movies ever made, and a historic event for movie fans, which makes it the perfect movie to add to your home collection … fans will want to relive every thrill, laugh, and emotional moment, and to share them with their friends and family. It’s no surprise that it’s Vudu’s hottest pre-order title of all time. ”

Spider-Man: No Way Home will be available for digital purchase on March 22 and on 4K UHD and Blu-ray on April 12.

Spider-Man Crushes Endgame

With how successful Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s time at the box office was, it’s no surprise that it’s finding an equal amount of success for its home release. Even then, beating Avengers: Endgame is quite the feat — apparently, three Spider-Men are more exciting than all of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes fighting off Thanos.

Had Tom Holland’s latest film premiered in a timeline without the pandemic, it could have easily made more money than the latest Avengers film did. Not only would it likely have shot all the way up to the highest-grossing film of all time, but it would probably have stayed there, unlike Endgame.

Fans only have to wait for less than a month before they can watch the biggest Spider-Man story ever, over and over again. After all, it’s nearly impossible to get tired of seeing the spandex trio interact with one another.
