Attack on Karen’s IRL ?!
Taryn Manning seems to regret her decision to star in the new film Karen, which is out Friday btw, because now IRL Karens is coming after her!
That Orange is the new black star opened up about the controversy in a new interview for Warburton magazine Thursday. While discussing her new thriller that went viral after the insane trailer fell back in June, the actress admitted that she had been “attacked by white women” and explained:
“I was very much attacked by white women who felt I had betrayed my own race.”
OMG. Of course, a bunch of Karen would say so! As you may now know, Karen is the nickname for any naming, intolerable and usually racist behaving white woman. Do you know those who will always see manager.

As expected, these women do not love that Manning stars as Karen White (LOL, what a good name) in a movie that highlights her micro-aggressions against her black neighbors. It looks crazy!
Check-out the wild trailer (below):
What’s almost crazier than that trailer is that Taryn has taken the criticism seriously and told the magazine:
“I was kind of taking it on my head first and was happy to respond to people you know, ‘I’m so sorry you feel that way.'”
That tactic, however, seemed futile. Now instead, she has limited her Instagram the comment field and made her Twitter privately to prevent more karens from sharing their unsolicited opinions.
Just to give you a sense of the messages the 42-year-old has been confronted with, some harsh (and racist) responses to the trailer said:
“More common antiwhit racism. I’m sure there’s no connection between this and the countless unprovoked beatings we see of white people on the streets. ”
“It simply came to our notice then. This movie is harmful and irresponsible. ”
Uff. It would suck to be at the forefront of all the misleading negativity! While talking to a psychologist Dr. Elizabeth Lombardo during the interview, the Hustle & Flow alum suggested trolls should “step really lightly” and note:
“You can not just act that way.”
It is true. People have been jailed for things like death threats over movies the last few years. No one thinks what they are doing online is genuine.

So why did Manning take on this controversial role at all? She believes the film could send a very important message to the public:
“A lot of people don’t take it well, but it’s something that needs to be brought to the forefront so we can really start changing humanity.”
Oh, and if you’re wondering what might be the equivalent of Karen Krazies, Dr. Lombardo that it is called a “red zone” mindset, which allegedly happens with “high stress levels when fear takes over rational thinking.” We can all succumb to these feelings, but some are better at keeping “that in check” than others, he continued:
“We all have a red zone, it’s just learning to keep it in check.”
Feeling sympathy for the frustrated guys in the world, the movie star thought:
“Some people are established, maybe they grew up in a household where they never really had the opportunity to think for themselves. It’s just this repetitive generational cycle they’re in – there it is. Maybe there’s an experience with such a thing that made scars on the frontal lobes, or it’s just a bad day. ”
LOLz! We love that she’s trying to rationalize the racists’ behavior – maybe that’s just what a good actress needs to do to get into a role – but honestly, it seems that most of Karen’s who have gone viral in the past years, has a “bad day” ”Only mixed with a whole lot of racial bias and bigot that would come out at some point. Not sure we can feel too sorry for them …
