Tenure-Track Full-time Positions in Engineering Science

The Department of Physical Sciences,
Engineering, and Technology at Dutchess Community College invites applications for a Tenure Track faculty position in Engineering

This is an opportunity to join a team of dedicated professionals where you’ll inspire motivated students to realize their
educational and career goals. The position involves teaching a variety of engineering courses with an emphasis on general and mechanical
engineering skills and includes both classroom and lab instruction in an established engineering science curriculum.  Additionally, the
position involves support of the instruction in mechanical topics within the electrical technology/mechatronics curriculum. Teaching
assignments within the engineering science curriculum may include introduction to engineering, 3-D solid modeling using SolidWorks or
Inventor, Engineering Statics, Engineering Dynamics, Strength of Materials, and Material Science. Teaching assignments may also include
pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical drives in the electrical technology curriculum.

The successful candidate will demonstrate
initiative and interest in working with the regional engineering community, technically-oriented companies, and technical workforce in the
development of opportunities for education and training in engineering and technical fields.

Preference will be given to candidates
with experience working with or teaching community college students and to those with an understanding and appreciation of the role of the
community college in higher education.  Preferred candidates should also be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of assessment
in course and program development.  Experience with supervision and leadership responsibilities are strongly desired. Candidates should have
some experience in using instructional technology in classroom or online adaptations, proficiency with common laboratory instrumentation,
and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies.  A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and how diversity impacts
learning, and instruction is strongly preferred.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is
$56,554 – $73,531, and is commensurate with degree level and experience.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Earned Master’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field
    with an earned bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering,
  • Teaching experience, preferably with undergraduate
    engineering or technology students
  • Either current work experience in industry or teaching experience in STEM
  •  A license to
    practice as a Registered Professional Engineer  is preferred.

Additional Information:

Faculty positions are
covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Dutchess Community College and Dutchess United Educators (DUE).
