Term Assistant Professor of Italian

George Mason University’s Department of Modern and Classical Languages on the Fairfax, VA campus, invites applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor of Italian (non tenure-track), beginning January 2022. This position is renewable. The Italian program at Mason includes a Minor in Italian Studies, internship and scholarship opportunities, study abroad programs, and a student-led club.


This position requires the instruction of twelve credit hours of Italian at various levels (elementary, intermediate and advanced) per semester.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants should be fluent in Italian and English, hold a Ph.D. in Italian, and have teaching experience in elementary, intermediate and advanced levels of language instruction. They should also be able to teach courses in English on Italian literature and cinema across a broad range of periods and topics.

Preferred Qualifications:

Applicants with expertise in the creation and implementation of online courses are particularly welcome.
