Tesla has updated the standard set of wheels available for the Model X to new darker wheels.
But do not hold your breath to get the electric SUV soon.
When Tesla unveiled the new Model S in January, the carmaker also unveiled the new Model X, but the SUV has received less attention.
There are several reasons for this.
Primarily because Tesla focused production on the new Model S, and it has not yet delivered any new Model X as far as we know.
Also, the older Model S was more due to an update than the newer Model X, which was launched in 2015.
But there will be a brand new Model X in the next few months.
Now we are told that Tesla has updated the online configurator for the electric SUV to include new Model X standard wheels (hat tip for Michael Potuck):
Since the January update, Tesla has introduced new 20 ″ Cyberstream wheels as standard wheels for the Model X.
But at first, these Cyberstream wheels were a lighter color:
Based on a look at the Wayback machine, it looks like the change happened sometime between August 3rd and August 11th.
However, that shouldn’t make that much of a difference because Tesla hasn’t delivered any Model X in that period, as far as we know.
Tesla has instructed that the first new Model X deliveries will take place this quarter, but the carmaker has experienced many delays lately.
The automaker is believed to be affected by chip shortages like the rest of the automotive industry.
People who placed Model X orders earlier in the year kept seeing their delivery times pushed to later in the year.
For new orders, Tesla now guides deliveries for March-April 2022 for the Model X Long Range and the same for the Model X Plaid.
