The investigation into the Beckenham murder was launched when a man died almost a month after the attack

A man has died of head injuries sustained in an attack after nearly a month in hospital.

Riccardo Holness, 42, was rushed to hospital in critical condition following an assault that took place on Beckenham High Street around 1:22 a.m. Sunday, October 17th.

He died almost a month later on Friday, November 12, and an autopsy on November 17 gave the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head.

Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation after his death.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on Monday, October 18, shortly after the assault on suspicion of GBH and was subsequently released pending further investigations.

Detective Inspector Dave Blair of Specialist Crime said: “Thoughts remain with Riccardo’s family, who understandably despair over what has happened.

We are working hard to establish the facts surrounding the incident and will ask anyone who witnessed the assault or who has any information to contact us as soon as possible. “
