Vicki Gunvalson speaks out about a secret cancer diagnosis she was confronted with almost two years ago.
After sharing the unexpected news last week Real housewives in Orange County alum went into detail about her uterine cancer before confirming that her hysterectomy was “successful” and turned a new leaf after weeks of unrest with ex-fiancé Steve Lodge.
“I was almost diagnosed with uterine cancer [two] years ago, “Vicki told Celebuzz on November 22.” Because of the diagnosis, I had to undergo a non-elective full hysterectomy. I was lucky enough to catch it early thanks to always adhering to my annual exam schedule. “
As RHOC fans may have seen, Vicki first shared his cancer news with the former teammate Tamra judge which they appeared on Jeff Lewis‘radio program last week. At the time, Vicki smoked out that she “had cancer” and “just got [her] whole damn uterus taken out “as she defended herself against the cancer scandal she was involved in with her ex-boyfriend Brooks Ayers years ago.
“While living my life in public for over 15 years, at this point in my life, I decided to keep this particular health diagnosis private,” Vicki confirmed. “I was not looking for sympathy by revealing this either, but most importantly I encourage women to get their annual cell samples as I had no symptoms at all. If I had not done so, it would most likely have been much more serious. “
Vicki said she was “lucky” not only to have caught the cancer when she did, but also to have undergone an “extremely successful” procedure afterwards.
“I’m fine now. The lesson here is always to make sure you pay attention to your body, go to your annual doctor visits and take care of your health,” Vicki said.
After announcing the diagnosis, Vicki hopes she can “get ahead” while looking forward to life without her ex-partner, Steve, whom she reportedly divorced months ago (Vicki announced their breakup in September, while Steve claims they pitched in 2020).
“Everyone in the world is asking me to make a statement about Steve, as it has become public knowledge that we broke up. People are looking for me to beat him, elaborate on things that went wrong, and basically make a statement. “I’m not going to do that, though,” Vicki explained. “Steve and I have mutually agreed to keep things peaceful and go our separate ways with dignity and respect for each other.”
“[I] I hope Steve and I can one day move on as friends even though our relationship did not end up working … We had an incredible relationship and I enjoyed our time together without regret, ”she added.
Vicki starred in the first 13 seasons of The Real Housewives of Orange County in a full-time role and appeared in season 14 in a “friend” or part-time role.
