What you need to know – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

A freeze warning will be in effect late Thursday through Friday morning for large parts of northern Texas. Here’s what you need to know.

Many areas within the warning will experience temperatures close to freezing for a few hours early Friday.

NBC 5 chief meteorologist Rick Mitchell calls for a low temperature of 35 ° at DFW airport, but temperatures in outlying areas around the metroplex can see a drop to the freezing point.

There is no worry about any pipe-blasting cold weather. To be on the safe side, however, it is a good idea to hook up your outdoor water hoses and cover the faucets with an insulated faucet cover. NBC 5 Meteorologists do not expect this to be needed in more urban areas, yet it is a good practice just as a precaution.

It will not be necessary to drip faucets inside your home.

You also want to turn off all automatic sprinkler systems and protect any supply facilities.

Even if you are not freezing, widespread frost is likely Friday morning.
